The rules for using Storyvale.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading or using Storyvale (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and the Apple Watch companion) you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. "We" and "us" mean Gromitron Industries, LLC.

2. Age requirement

Storyvale is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, please use Storyvale with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for the media and services you connect to Storyvale, and for making sure your use of them is appropriate for your age.

3. What Storyvale is

Storyvale is a player and library app. Storyvale does not provide any content. Connect only sources you are authorized to use. We do not sell, host, stream or recommend any IPTV, media or content source, and we are not affiliated with any content provider. Apart from a short public-domain sample chapter shown at first launch and the public-domain books in The Reading Room, everything in your library comes from you: your own files, your own Plex or Jellyfin server, or an IPTV service you subscribe to.

4. Your content, your responsibility

You are solely responsible for the media you import into Storyvale and for any IPTV, Plex, Jellyfin or other service you connect. By using Storyvale you confirm that you own or have the legal right to use the content you add, and that any service you connect is one you are lawfully authorized to access. Do not use Storyvale to infringe copyright, bypass access controls or break any law or any service's terms. We take no responsibility for the legality of any third-party service or file you connect or import.

The Reading Room offers public-domain books from Project Gutenberg. Public-domain status differs between countries, and Storyvale does not filter by country. You are responsible for checking whether a work is lawful to download where you are.

5. Accounts

Storyvale does not require you to create an account or sign in. When you buy Pro or Speechify minutes, Storyvale creates a random Storyvale account number to connect your purchases across your devices. Optional server-backed features (AI features, Speechify voices, metadata and subtitle lookups) use that number or a random device identifier, not a named account. See the Privacy Policy.

6. Free use, Pro and purchases

• Free: Storyvale includes 7 free items, forever. A series counts as one item and a live channel counts as one item. Only opening or playing an item uses one. Pro is not offered as a trial.
• Pro: unlocks everything beyond the free items. Pro Monthly ($4.99) and Pro Annual ($39.99) are auto-renewing subscriptions. Pro Lifetime ($99.99) is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge. Prices are in US dollars and may differ by region and change over time; the price shown at purchase applies. Family Sharing is available where Apple allows it.
• Speechify voice packs (optional, iPhone and iPad only): consumable packs of Speechify narration time (currently 80 minutes for $2.99 and 5 hours for $9.99). Packs are used up as you listen, never expire, and are not transferable between Apple IDs. A pack bought on iPhone or iPad can also be used on your Apple TV through your Storyvale account number. Speechify generation speed varies and is not guaranteed. Speechify voices are AI-generated and are not human voices.
• Free on your device: Apple's built-in narration voices, on-device voices and Audiobook Theater captions do not require Pro or packs.
• Apple Watch, Mac (iPad app on Apple silicon Macs) and Apple TV features depend on your devices and Apple software.

7. Payments, renewals and refunds

All purchases are billed by Apple through your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your Apple ID settings, where you can manage or cancel at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals and does not refund the current period. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies, and we cannot issue them directly. The Apple TV app is a separate App Store product with its own Pro purchase, and a Pro purchase in either app unlocks Pro on your other devices through your Storyvale account number. Use Restore Purchases in Settings if Pro does not appear.

8. AI features

AI Search, Recommendations and expressive Speechify narration use Anthropic's Claude AI through our servers. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable, so use your own judgment. Recommendations and search results are suggestions, not endorsements of any content or source. See the Privacy Policy for what is sent.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Storyvale to:

• Access, import or stream content you do not have the legal right to use.
• Circumvent, interfere with or abuse any IPTV, Plex, Jellyfin or other service in violation of that service's terms.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app.
• Interfere with or attempt to overload our servers, or use our server features other than through the app.
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose.

Keep your device, Apple ID and any service sign-ins secure. You are responsible for activity on them. Plex and Jellyfin downloads are personal offline copies and may not be shared or redistributed.

10. Third-party services

Storyvale connects to services we do not control, including Apple (StoreKit, iCloud and CloudKit), your IPTV, Plex or Jellyfin provider, Anthropic, Speechify, TMDB, OMDb, OpenSubtitles, Podcast Index, Open Library, Project Gutenberg and YouTube. Their availability, content and terms are theirs. Metadata and images shown in Storyvale may come from these services and belong to their owners.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

11. Intellectual property

The Storyvale app, design, name and software belong to Gromitron Industries, LLC. You keep all rights to your own media and content, and we claim no ownership of it. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If these terms conflict with Apple's standard EULA, Apple's governs the license, and these terms govern the rest.

12. Availability and changes

We may update, change or remove features, and some features rely on servers that can be interrupted. We try to keep the app working but do not promise uninterrupted service.

13. Disclaimers

Storyvale is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we make no warranty about the availability, quality or legality of any third-party service you connect. We are not responsible for loss of media files; back up your library through your own iCloud or file management.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gromitron Industries, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost data, or the content that you or third-party services provide, arising from your use of Storyvale. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

15. Termination

You can stop at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend access to server features if you abuse them or break these terms.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will update the effective date, and continued use after a change means you accept it.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
